DELMAS – According to a reliable source, a certain Investigating officer from Daveyton, police Detective who initially worked on the investigation of the missing Christopher Modupi Moloi’s case has left a number of stones unturned.

The source revealed the information following a number of incidences allegedly connected to the 34- year-old Moloi’s disappearance with serious allegations that:

  • The house where Moloi used to live in at N12 Delmas was found in a mess and tampered with on the Tuesday following the Saturday when he went missing including some of his clothes stolen. The police doing the investigation were alerted regarding this, however, more than two months later, they have not conducted any investigation on the house such as taking fingerprints.
  • A colleague of Moloi from Botleng Primary School received a text message from Moloi’s number on the Monday following the Saturday in question, reporting that he was not feeling well and will not make it to work. This is also strange as Moloi was reportedly last seen on the Saturday in question.
  • The police allegedly traced the missing person’s cellphone which moved between KwaThema, Springs and Benoni during the earlier days of the investigation later discovered to be in the hands of the third suspect in connection with the missing car.
  • Moloi’s cousin alleges that on the Saturday night, both him and Moloi left their cellphones to charge at a friend named Linda Zwakala. Moloi left the cousin at his place from the tavern allegedly either going back to the tavern or back to Delmas, however, the following morning when the cousin went back to fetch his cellphone, Zwakala told him that Moloi came back that night and took both their cellphones meaning that the cousin lost his cellphone. To the surprise of Moloi’s family, Zwakala, a very close friend to Moloi and well known to the family has not been on sight or in contact with Moloi’s family since he went missing. Zwakala later reappeared saying he was on a break.
  • The Detective Chiloane would not update the family regarding the status of the investigation and would go mum for a long time, each time the family contacted him about a potential worthy information he would tell the family to relax. The detective is reported to have been away on leave close to a month without the case being attended to or handed over to another colleague particularly at its peak. The detective was reported to return from leave on 11 May.
  • On 8 April during the court hearing of the suspect Anotonio Muinga, the detective was not in court and his whereabouts there unknown.
  • Communication surfaced between the mechanic, the tavern owner, and suspect three discussing how they were going to dismantle the Renault Clio car including removing the tracker and the MP registration off which had already been changed to GP by the time suspect Antonio Muinga was found in its possession.
  • The police discovered text communication between the three suspects, tavern owner, Tlogotshweu, the mechanic at the scrapyard and unknown suspect 3 who apparently ran away with the missing person’s cellphone. The three were allegedly discussing how they were going to dismantle the car including
  • The tavern owner, Tlogotshweu, was released on bail even after the police discovered he was involved in the theft, dismantlement of the car, plans to remove the tracker and the fact that the suspect Anotnio Muinga now in police custody told the police that he bought car from him including the fact that the missing person has not been found.
  • Another source allegedly revealed to the family that she witnessed the missing person, Moloi being beaten to a pulp by the body guards or bouncers of the tavern owner at the Tsunami tavern on the night he went missing. It is alleged that the source is afraid to speak further about what transpired after Moloi was beaten by the bouncers from the tavern also referred to as “MaRussia”.
  • Daveyton residents familiar with the tavern say this is not the first time someone has gone missing from Tsunami tavern. A similar comment was made by a social media user saying, “A lot of people have died from that tavern, some have gone missing and were never found.”
  • Two months after Moloi went missing and the car found on 6 May the police reported that they found a cloth with blood in the car of the missing person, by then a different detective who would not be named, was handling the case.

Gauteng police provincial spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo, has not commented on the questions sent to him regarding these allegations. Masondo has been contacted several times by Highveld Chronicle via calls and WhatsApp messages.

It should be noted that initially when the investigation of this story was carried, Daveyton Station Commander Chitia said that the case should be with Delmas since the missing person is from Delmas regardless of the fact that Moloi was last seen in Daveyton and his car was also found there. Delmas police said the case should be with Daveyton since the person went missing or was last seen in Daveyton. However, as things stand now, the case is allegedly handled by Daveyton. It remains to be seen what events will unfold to find the missing Moloi.
