A 13-year-old girl from Botleng N12, who went missing on 15 February, was found in a frantic state with blood stains on her clothes.
The minor teenager, who cannot be named to protect her identity, said she left her home on Monday 15 February evening to her mother’s house in the company of her alleged 17-year-old boyfriend. The suspect lured the victim to his home in N12 claiming he was looking for his brother before he locked her into a dark room and allegedly raped her. She was locked in the dark room until Wednesday 17 February afternoon when the alleged rapist realised the victim was reported missing.
She returned home where she lives with her grandmother in Botleng N12 in a hysterical state with blood stains on her clothes according to her mother. The police were immediately called to the house to assess the situation before she could be rushed to Bernice Hospital.
A case of rape was opened with the Delmas South African Police Service on the same day the victim was found, the suspect was apprehended and is in police custody.
Her mother recalled the time she received a call from the grandmother asking if her daughter will be returning to N12 and to the dismay of the mother her daughter had not arrived at her mother’s house in Ext 3 by evening at around 20:00. The mother further said she was not aware that her daughter would be coming to visit that day.
On Tuesday 16 February the family went looking for their daughter around Delmas from her friends, relatives and schoolmates and was nowhere to be found. A case of a missing person was then opened the following day.
Highveld Chronicle visited the house where the teenage girl was allegedly raped and found family members who allowed for observation of the dark room where the victim was allegedly raped. Suddenly the mother of the suspect arrived at the house in the company of a friend and in the car of a police detective investigating the rape case. The mother of the suspect was angry to find the media at her house and threatened to kill the mother of the victim for showing the media where her house is located. The detective called the mother of the victim to the car and allegedly said he “does not know what he is supposed to do as the victim and suspects were dating”. The angry mother of the suspect further said she came home with the investigating officer because she asked him to take her to the police cells to see her son who is now arrested. The suspect is expected to appear at the Delmas District Court today (19 February.)
