DELMAS – The captivating encounter between Elevated United and Delpark United, featuring their under-17 teams, culminated in a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

The match, held at Gomasakho Sports Ground on 4 August 2024, saw Delpark United take an early lead, yet Elevated United’s tenacity shone in the second half.

Delpark United initiated the game with fervor, surprising Elevated United with their aggressive pressing tactics.

Their diligence bore fruit as they swiftly secured a 2-0 lead before the halftime whistle.

Elevated United regathered their composure during the interval and emerged rejuvenated in the latter half.

Their resolve was palpable as they surged forward, fashioning numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

Sicelo Goodwill Kabini, the developmental coach of Elevated United, shared his thoughts with the Highveld Chronicle, stating, “We commenced the match tentatively, which led to our initial struggles in the first half. However, we adjusted our strategy in the second half, implementing more effective counterattacks that disrupted their rhythm. Our defensive core remained resolute until the final whistle, enabling us to net two goals in the second half,” he said.

Their persistence bore fruit midway through the second half as they managed to narrow the deficit.

Elevated United persisted in applying pressure, and their equalizer materialized in the dying moments courtesy of a spectacular long-range strike that left the Delpark United goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Despite both teams’ fervent endeavors, neither could secure the winning goal, culminating in a 2-2 deadlock.

Elevated United coach commended his players’ dedication and lauded the high caliber of the match, showcasing the prowess and promise of these budding talents.
