DELMAS – In a strongly worded statement, Delmas First has condemned the actions of a group of individuals described as “irresponsible tenderpreneurs and aspiring construction mafias” who disrupted a project in the town, demanding a 30% cut. The incident, captured on video, took place at one of the largest accommodation rental flats in Delmas and has raised serious concerns about economic sabotage and extortion.
The apolitical organisation, known for its commitment to transforming the agricultural and mining town through practical, patriotic efforts aimed at developing the Victor Khanye Municipality for economic upliftment and investor attraction, released the statement on Wednesday morning, August 28.
“This conduct may constitute a clear case of economic sabotage and extortion,” the statement reads. “Such actions are unacceptable and threaten the very foundation of our economic progress.”
Delmas First has expressed its full support for the disrupted company and has called on them to take immediate action. “We urge the company to open a formal case with the South African Police Services. We also call on the police to demonstrate their commitment to upholding the rule of law by ensuring that the individuals in the video are swiftly brought to justice,” the statement concluded.
The organisation’s stance highlights the need for accountability and the protection of businesses from unlawful disruptions that threaten the economic stability of the municipality.
