DELMAS – The Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) officially launched its structures in Victor Khanye on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
Despite a low turnout at Extension 3 Community Hall due to short notice, the MRM marked an important step towards addressing pressing socio-economic issues in the community.
Directed by municipal council speaker Henry Ngoma, the launch was supported by Nkangala District Municipality council speaker Kabelo Boshomane.
The movement aims to establish structures in all six local municipalities within the Nkangala District to tackle challenges such as violence, criminality, gender-based violence, and difficulties faced by people with disabilities.
Boshomane emphasised the importance of collective effort, encouraging a collaborative approach between municipalities, the police, Home Affairs, the Department of Social Development, and relevant stakeholders to fight or mitigate these social problems.
The MRM also focuses on supporting the youth through sports, education, and training.
Ngoma highlighted the movement’s significance, saying, “It is a clarion call for collective action, where all structures and community members work together to uplift the livelihoods and moral fibre of our society.”
The elected committee members include:
• Youth Committee – Smanga Sthole
• Anti-Hijacking – Pastor Joe Manamela
• Men’s Sector – Zamani Sbanyoni
• Bishop – Levis Hlumbame
• NPO Vumandalo – Lindiwe Mlibali
• Community Ward 3 – Vuyelwa Mpampiri
• Delmas First Woman – Pastor Busi Moropa
Bishop Levis Hlumbame from the Delmas Pastors Fraternal, who has been elected to the coordinating committee, told Highveld Chronicle that it is a “crucial step towards fostering dignity, community improvement, and harmony among youth, the elderly, and council members.”
The movement plans to launch a fully-fledged structure in Victor Khanye soon, with the elected coordinating committee leading the way.
Despite initial setbacks, the district is hopeful for the movement’s success in combating socio-economic issues and promoting a better life for all community members.
