MILIVA – The community of Miliva came together in a celebration of beauty, talent and resilience as the Fundanathi Foundation Non-Profitable Organization hosted its annual “Face of Fundanathi Foundation” beauty pageant on November 16, 2024.
Held at Zimu’s Corner Lifestyle, in Thembisile Hani municipality, the event was a true testament to the foundation’s mission of promoting, provoking, and motivating positive change within the community.
This year’s pageant featured an inspiring group of contestants, each sharing their unique backgrounds, stories, and aspirations.
As they graced the stage, they emphasized the importance of social responsibility and community development, aligning perfectly with the foundation’s core values.
The event culminated in a proud moment for Ayanda Zama Kabini (15), who was crowned the Face of Fundanathi Foundation.
Her powerful response to the judges centered on her advocacy for mental illness awareness and body positivity, focusing on boosting confidence among young girls and boys.
“People in my age often feel insecure and bullied about their bodies. As a model, I’m passionate about promoting body positivity because I believe everyone is beautiful in their own way. This platform allows me to advocate for change and inspire others to join in,” she expressed with a confident smile.
Kabini addressed the pressing issue of mental health, underscoring its significance in today’s society. “Mental illness is a serious issue we need to confront as a nation. Youth today are tragically committing suicide because they feel they cannot speak about their struggles. Boys, in particular, face barriers, with phrases like ‘Amadoda awakhali’ suggesting they must remain silent. It’s time for men to voice their concerns openly,” she said.
The Executive Director of the Fundanathi Foundation, Comfort “Blaqmen,” expressed immense pride in the successful turnout of the pageant. “The Fundanathi Foundation pageant is not just a celebration but a testament to our mission of empowering women,” he said. “We’ve recognized that women often lack the opportunities to speak about the challenges they face. It’s heartening to see young girls participate despite their hardships.”
He further highlighted the event’s goal, stating, “Through this pageant, we aim to inspire women to realize their potential. They are incubators; anything they touch grows and becomes nourished.”
