DELMAS – The court session on August 20, 2024 was postponed to September 26, 2024 as the docket has been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a decision on whether the matter will be tried in the Regional Court or the High Court.
Wessel Badenhorst, head of security at Argent, was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with the death of Mzwakhe Hlatshwayo. According to the police, on March 22, 2024, they, along with Emergency Medical Services personnel, were called to a farm where they found a woman with gunshot wounds. They later discovered the body of a male, identified as Hlatshwayo, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased at the scene.
The prosecutor in Delmas stated that they would request a remand as the docket is still with the DPP in Middelburg. Badenhorst is currently out on bail, awaiting his judgment, with all his assets frozen until further notice.
