DELMAS – Gruesome murders have reached a sickening point in Delmas wherein less than a week about three people have been murdered in Botleng extension 3 by three suspected serial killers.
Police officers in Delmas are still on the hunt for three suspects responsible for rape and murder cases of a woman named Mapule Dorah Moalamedi murdered on the night of 20 February an open field behind the ZCC church in Botleng. The police in Delmas report that they received a call from the members of the community on the night when Mma Moamaledi was murdered informing them of her body that was found in an open field. The police attended to the crime scene where they confirmed that the woman was from Botleng Extension 3.
The deceased who was stabbed with a sharp instrument on her left breast was reportedly accompanied by two of her children who were not injured or harmed. At this stage information gathered indicate that three masked assailants came out of the dark grabbing the old woman.
An elderly man Kleinbooi Radebe murdered the following night of 21 February near the same spot and an unnamed 15-year-old girl allegedly went missing on Friday 22 February after school and the police reported that her body was found on 25 February in her mother’s house. A post-mortem is yet to be conducted on the deceased girl’s body who is suspected to have been raped before being murdered.
No suspects have been identified or arrested and now with the third murder reported, the community of Delmas is relying heavily on the police to work hard to find the culprits. On social media, people are calling out on the police in Delmas to patrol more on dodgy or deadly spots, where a social media user said commented: “We need police and additional vehicles because always when you call they respond after two hours then they tell you they have one van which must cover the whole of Victor Khanye”.
The user continued to say, “The building of a police station in Extension 3 needs to be prioritised and old police station in Botleng [should] proper sebenza (work) again.” Another social media user said, “CPF is good but SAPS needs to be more visible. Top Brass don’t have the will to put more patrols into areas…vehicles frequently broken down… we need to protest in order to let the government get out the message…WE NEED MORE POLICE”.
In a media statement issued by the station commander in Delmas, the public is advised to steer clear of dark spots and also report any suspects to Captain Hartley from the police station on 076 412 3709.
