Classic car and military enthusiasts were treated to a spectacular event over the weekend at the Delmas Military Day and Classic Cars Show. Hosted by the Military Collections and Re-Enactment Society (MCRS), the event took place on Saturday, June 29, at Delmas Willowbrook Square.
The highlight of the show was the extensive collection of classic cars on display, including four rare military Jeeps. Over 50 rare and unique vehicles spanning from the early 20th century through the 1970s were showcased. Spectators strolled through rows of polished chrome and gleaming paint, marveling at these automotive works of art. Several car clubs attended, proudly exhibiting their prized vehicles.
“We wanted to give back to the community by issuing prizes through our lucky draw competition, including R30,000 worth of gift vouchers for our customers. We invited several classic car groups to display their vehicles, alongside military enthusiasts from the MCRS, of which I am a member,” said event organizer and Delmas Pick ‘n Pay owner Celso Dos Santos.
In addition to the classic cars, the Delmas Military Day segment provided a detailed exploration of military history. Authentic reproductions of uniforms, weapons, and equipment from various eras were on display. Re-enactors dressed in period attire delivered live demonstrations, showcasing military drills and tactics throughout the day. The Delmas Military Day and Classic Cars Show offered something for everyone, whether they were a history buff, gearhead, or simply looking for a great family-friendly event. The show ran from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, with food vendors on-site. Entry was free for all spectators. It was a unique showcase celebrating classic military and automobile history.
