The Phelophepa Health Care Train, globally recognized for its impactful contributions to public health, offers an array of services aimed at promoting well-being. Moreover, the onboard eye clinic provides free vision screenings, with spectacles available at a modest cost of R30 per pair, along with eye drops priced at R5. General health screenings, including cancer and diabetes tests, are also provided at no cost, encompassing Pap smears, prostate, and breast screenings. The Phelophepa Health Care Train extends its support further by offering free counselling services, recognizing the importance of mental health alongside physical well-being.
Gogo Sophie Zwane of Botleng Extension 6 expressed her delight at the arrival of the Phelophepa Health Care Train, emphasizing the financial challenges faced by pensioners in accessing medical services. “Getting medical opinions and screenings from professionals is now expensive and out of reach,” she stated, underscoring the significance of the train’s presence in the community.
