KWAMHLANGA – Ordering food in townships or rural areas has always been challenging due to the lack of mapping. In 2021, Delivery Ka Speed (DKS) founder & CEO Godiragetse Mogajane attempted to order food for delivery to his home, only to find that the service was not available in the area. After conducting research, he discovered that most food delivery services don’t operate in townships and rural areas because of the lack of mapping. This realization led to the launch of DKS in Hammanskraal in July 2021.
Mogajane identified a gap in the market and initiated Delivery Ka Speed with a small team, handling orders via WhatsApp and utilizing delivery drivers from Hammanskraal. To date, Delivery Ka Speed has created over 200 gig jobs, with 15 administrative staff in its Hammanskraal headquarters, and operates in Gauteng, North West, and Limpopo. Mpumalanga became the fourth region added to their service areas after the launch on May 30, 2023.
Cashius Moshopya, a marketing intern, shared that DKS plans to expand into the townships of Mpumalanga, with KwaMhlanga being their first target. “We have plans to scale through other neighbouring townships in the area of Mpumalanga, ensuring that more communities benefit from our fast and reliable services,” Moshopya said. He also mentioned their intention to create job opportunities within the community”We planning to do this with each and every launch. We have hired 10 drivers for our KwaMhlanga launch and call out to more applicants as we penetrate the area. As part of our expansion and commitment to local economic empowerment. We aim to significantly contribute to reducing unemployment and boosting the local economy. As our business grows, we remain dedicated to employing more people and DKS is a food delivery service for townships and rural areas, and it is launching in Mpumalanga on May 30, 2024.
