EMALAHLENI – Another school is set to benefit the Emalahleni community, as Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane announced plans for a new school for the deaf during the opening of Mogalitwa Primary School on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Addressing journalists at the handover ceremony, the Premier emphasised the province’s commitment to education infrastructure development, stating, “There is quite a number of schools that are under construction in the province, and amongst those schools that we are working on, is a school for the deaf that is going to be built here in Emalahleni.” She further highlighted the importance of providing quality infrastructure to enhance the learning environment, adding, “As government, we are hard at work in making sure that we give our children quality infrastructure that will make learning much more easier and to be in a conducive environment.” Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane also expressed concern over recent incidents of vandalism in Mpumalanga schools, citing a recent incident in Hazyview where criminals vandalized school property and robbed teachers and students. She urged the community to end such destructive behaviour, emphasizing its detrimental effects on education and society at large. “We want to plead with them to say please let us stop this thing because it does not assist anybody. This does not only take government back, it also disadvantages the very same that are supposed to be given that opportunity to be exposed to the digitisation of this area,” she remarked.
