Station distributes food parcels and adopts families to combat food insecurity in eMalahleni
eMALAHLENI – eMalahleni FM is inspiring the local community to join forces in addressing food insecurity through its impactful corporate social investment (CSI) programme.
As part of this initiative, the station recently distributed ten food parcels to struggling families in Kwa-Guqa Extension, Klarinet, and surrounding areas.
Over the past two months, the station’s management has visited homes to identify families in need, resulting in the adoption of four families who will now receive monthly grocery support. This initiative underscores the power of collective action in tackling poverty in the region.
Nompumelelo Lehlomela, one of the beneficiaries from Marikana in Empumelelweni, shared her story: “I wrote to eMalahleni FM because we were in desperate need. Receiving this support has been life-changing for my family,” she said.
Another recipient, Sbongile Mahlangu from Hlalanikahle, expressed her gratitude as well. Living in a household of seven with her grandmother, she emphasised the significance of the assistance: “This is the second time eMalahleni FM has supported us. It feels like they truly understand our struggles. We are so grateful,” she said.
eMalahleni FM is now calling on community members to contribute by donating clothing and non-perishable goods. Donations can be dropped off at the station’s studios at 5546 Hectorway Drive in Lynnville, situated in the old municipal building. Residents can also contact 071 175 1528 for more information or to arrange donations.
Through this initiative, eMalahleni FM is not only supporting local families but also fostering a sense of community solidarity. By working together, eMalahleni residents can ensure no one is left behind.
