EMALAHLENI – A shockwave of sadness and disbelief has swept through the Emalahleni community following the sudden passing of 27-year-old entrepreneur and businesswoman, Bongiwe Thela from Extension 10 in Town.The news of her demise at Santa Hospital on April 24, 2023, after a brief illness, left many in a state of mourning. Known for her tenacity and innovative spirit, Thela was not only an integral part of Emalahleni’s business landscape but also a beloved figure among her friends and family. Born and raised in Emalahleni, Thela’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2016 when she founded Toda Products. Armed with a diploma in Business Management from a reputable institution, she quickly made her mark in the competitive industry with her unique tea products. Her dedication to quality and innovation paid off when she was awarded the pitch winner title for her tea products in 2019.
Thela’s untimely death has left a void that cannot be filled easily. Her passion for business and innovation will continue to inspire those around her as they carry on her legacy at Toda Products. As the city grieves this loss, it serves as a reminder to cherish every moment and appreciate the contributions each individual makes to their community.
Speaking on behalf of the family, a grandmother to Thela said, “I am still in disbelief that my grand daughter has left us and it is very painful. She was 27 years old, young and full of life. With her short illness, we had hope that she will heal and be discharged from the hospital,”
“Bongiwe was a people’s person. She loved the community. She died at Santa hospital. What I will remember about Bongiwe is that she was a star, she was a child who had alot of respect, she was very focus. She has a heart, she took good care of the elderly people. She had a very bright future.” she expressed while indicating that many looked up to Bongiwe as their role model.
According the family Thela will be laid to rest on Wednesday, May 1.
