MIDDELBURG – “He was the light in times of darkness.” These were the heartfelt words shared by the family of Takalani Mkansi, better known to fans as DJ Dosline, as they mourn the untimely passing of the beloved Middelburg-born DJ and producer. Widely respected in the South African music industry, Dosline was more than just a performer, he was a devoted father, a mentor to aspiring artists, and a proud son of Mpumalanga.

The Mkansi family described him as cheerful, deeply respectful, and someone who radiated positivity wherever he went. “He truly embodied the spirit of community,” said a family representative. “He had a natural gift for bringing people together and a passion for nurturing young talent.”

DJ Dosline passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, June 14, after being struck by a passing vehicle outside Middelburg while stopping to change a tyre, and despite swift medical intervention, he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Dosline burst onto the music scene in 2003 and quickly became known for his infectious energy and crowd-moving sets. His legacy was built not only on the decks but also through the support he offered to others in the creative industry. Known for doing things his own way, he rose through the ranks without relying on government funding, building a successful music career through grit, consistency, and heart.

He remained a constant figure in the local music scene, using his platform to empower up-and-coming artists and uplift his community. Many describe him as a symbol of self-made success and perseverance.

To those closest to him, Dosline’s absence is deeply personal. He was a pillar of strength in his family, deeply committed to his children and relatives. His passing has sent shockwaves through Middelburg and beyond, with tributes pouring in from fans, fellow musicians, and community members who say his loss is immeasurable.

While the music may have gone silent, the legacy of DJ Dosline continues to echo through the lives he touched and the dreams he helped shape.
