MIDDELBURG – A Miss Mpumalanga 2025 hopeful says winning the prestigious title would be synonymous with a dream realised. Kekeletso Sellwane (23) from Rockdale, Middelburg, is among the top ten finalists who will be competing for the crown on March 15, at the Communio Auditorium in Mbombela. Bajabulise Thela, from the City of Mbombela Municipality, is the current Miss Mpumalanga titleholder. She was crowned at the same venue on March 16, 2024. Kekeletso further said winning the competition would serve as a reminder to young girls and boys that dreams can be achieved. “The sky is not even the limit; we can go beyond galaxies,” she told Highveld Chronicle. She said her journey started on December 5, 2024 when she participated in the auditions held at The Ridge Hotel and Casino in eMalahleni. “I then made it to the top 20, and eventually the top 10,” she explained. “This is my first pageant. I mostly do commercial modelling.”
Kekeletso, a chiropractic student at the University of Johannesburg, added that part of her community work involves advocating for literacy empowerment and lifelong learning through her campaign, Read Beyond Borders. “The campaign seeks to inspire young minds to embrace the power of reading, encourage young people to explore literature through diverse perspectives, and most importantly, revive the culture of reading,” she said. Kekeletso further stated that as a potential titleholder, she wants to bring change to her community by using the provincial platform to educate. “I would like to be a tangible representation of a dream realised and remind young people that dreams can be achieved.” She also encouraged the community to support her by purchasing tickets at any Pick n Pay or Boxer store. “Please join me as I gracefully participate in the Miss Mpumalanga 2025 pageant. Your support will be highly appreciated.”
