Emalahleni – In a significant stride towards augmenting education in South Africa, Astron Energy gave 40 digital libraries to Kopanang Secondary School in Witbank in July 31, 2024.
This endeavor is a testament to Astron Energy’s dedication to bolstering the South African economy and fostering socio-economic development, particularly in the realm of education.
Donna Fata, the Public Affairs Manager for Astron Energy South Africa, articulated the company’s unwavering commitment to shaping a brighter future collectively. “Our mission is to secure our future collectively, and one of our primary focal points in socio-economic development is education. Hence, we are present today at Kopanang Secondary School to contribute digital libraries. These resources will empower the students to engage in research, broaden their scope of knowledge, and aid them in their academic endeavors,” she remarked.
The endeavor is a collaborative effort between Astron Energy and RuraTech, the provider of the digital libraries.
This is not Astron Energy’s only involvement with the school; in the past year, they generously gave school footwear subsequent to engagements with the Witbank stakeholder forum, which pinpointed the school’s requirements.
Alfred Sithole, the School governing body (SGB) Chairperson of Kopanang Secondary School, conveyed his profound gratitude. “We are immensely grateful to Astron Energy for endowing us with digital libraries. Our students, some of whom have encountered challenges in learning and writing, will undoubtedly reap the benefits. We are committed to maintaining and preserving the equipment for future generations,” he expressed.
Jeffrey Katuruza from RuraTech, the mastermind behind the mobile digital libraries, highlighted the significance of the project. “We have curated a digital repository for schools devoid of computerized libraries or internet connectivity. We are thrilled to collaborate with Astron Energy, whose financial backing made this initiative feasible. I am delighted that these students will derive immense value from this digital repository,” he emphasized.
The joint effort by Astron Energy and RuraTech is geared towards equipping learners with the requisite tools to excel academically and make positive contributions to the South African economy.
