EMALAHLENI -A powerful tribute was paid to the late executive mayor of eMalahleni municipality, Linah Malatjie, with a soccer and netball tournament hosted by Pastor Ray Mabena of Umlilo wevangeli, in collaboration with the Uniting Forum and the Kakaramba Foundation.
Held at the vibrant Lynnville Stadium, the tournament attracted a large crowd, showing the immense support for Malatjie’s legacy.
eMalahleni municipality was a key supporter of the event, reinforcing the community’s dedication to remembering and honoring the late mayor’s contributions.
The tournament, part of the 10th Annual Kasi Football League, featured thrilling matches, but it was the final game that captured the crowd’s attention. In a hard-fought battle, Young Talent from Vosman triumphed over Real Ovies, winning 3-1.

Pastor Ray Mabena shared an inspiring message during the event, linking the tournament to Human Rights Day. “In this month, as we celebrate Human Rights Day, we remember our late mayor, Cllr Linah Malatjie, who supported us throughout her leadership. We had her family and friends with us today, and we are here to encourage the youth to stay productive and steer clear of anything that might ruin their futures,” he said.
The event not only served as a tribute but also as a platform for encouraging young people to engage in sports and community activities that could shape a brighter future. It was a memorable day of celebration, remembrance, and the unification of the Emalahleni community.
