DELMAS – If I had powers to change anything in Delmas that would be the discrimination we have for each other, these were the words of Botleng’s poet and aspiring lyricist Inno ‘The Revelation’.
Born Innocent Bafana Zweni, Inno ‘The Revelation’ said he was convinced that support for all local talents and to believe that working together as a community from politicians, pastors, musicians even just ordinary people, can make the Botleng community a great one.
The 23-year-old youngster is a poet of note whose ambitions are slightly different from those of other poets we may know. “To preach the word of God in all my poems,” he said. “The message contained in my poems is the truth and the revelation about the last days. I’m trying to make the community aware of the things the bible had made us aware of that will happen in the last days,” he explained.
Inno ‘The Revelation,’ who is releasing an album on June 6, featuring Sbo ‘The Poet’ and Gravity, said his love of poetry surfaced when he was in secondary school in Swartlip Combined and grew further after completing his college diploma.
“Ever since I discovered this bug, my life has been about loyalty, respect and truth… I have come to discover the truth and revelation God has placed in me,” he said. He said he had performed alongside the biggest names the music and entertainment industry has ever produced in the form of Solomon Spencer from B.C.C, Thobekile Mahlangu from Joyous Celebration and Sbo ‘The Poet’ from Isibaya.
“I am also sharing a stage with Ntando, Ami Fakufe, Chelete and Zahara on the 28th of March. I had also been interviewed on KCRS FM. My music had also been played on Dumisa and Trace channel,” he said.
His biggest ambition is to share the stage with Bonginkosi Dlamini, known as Zola7 and Sjava. “The reason is that these musicians are lyricists like I am aiming to be in the nearest future,” he said.
“I want to say a special thank you to my family, especially my mom and my sister Joana for a very positive support they gave me. They have been my biggest fans and very supportive,” he said. “People can follow me on Facebook, twitter and Instagram @inno pastor zweni. I’m also on YouTube @inno pastor zweni. That’s where all my poems are found,” he concluded.
