PHOLA – Milan FC and Grinades emerged victorious in the SoGutjhe Royal House annual under-15 School Holiday Tournament, held at Mabande Comprehensive High School grounds on Saturday, July 6.
The event, which featured both soccer and netball teams, provided young players with a platform to showcase their skills while competing for the top spot. In the final match, Milan FC faced off against Firestone FC, with both teams fiercely vying for the winning trophy. However, luck was not on Firestone FC’s side, as they ultimately succumbed to Milan FC’s pressure.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have won this tournament,” said Milan FC’s coach, Ntando Mngomezulu. “The boys worked incredibly hard and deserved this victory. It’s a fantastic way to end the school holiday period.”
In netball, the Super Eagles faced Grinades in a thrilling encounter, where Grinades’ exceptional skills led to the Eagles finishing as runners-up.
Speaking on behalf of the Royal House, Ndabezitha Sipho Sombali Mahlangu praised all the participating teams. “Our goal of keeping children off the streets during the school holidays was achieved by hosting this tournament,” he said. “We’re thrilled to see so many talented young players taking part. We hope to see them all again next year.”
Miss Township South Africa finalist, Cebile Mahlangu, graced the occasion. The Royal House also expressed gratitude to the Emalahleni Sports Council, teams, coaches, and officials involved in the tournament. “A special thank you to our sponsors, Blue Mining Services and Sinawe Security,” said Ndabezitha Mahlangu.
