MPUMALANGA – The winners of the semi-final games between Chippa United and Orlando Pirates on 4 May 2024, and Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch on 5 May 2024, will advance to the Nedbank Cup finals on 1 June 2024. The final match is set to take place at Mbombela Stadium.
After confirming the venues for the semi-finals, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced that Mbombela Stadium would host the Nedbank Yona Ke Yona final.
The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is excited about this decision. With more than 43,000 South African sports tourists and visitors from neighbouring countries like the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Republic of Mozambique expected to travel to Mbombela for the final, the city is gearing up for a bustling event.
The MTPA encourages soccer fans to secure their seats by purchasing tickets early. Additionally, they advise sports tourists to book accommodation and flights well in advance.
MTPA CEO, Mduduzi Villakazi, welcomed the PSL’s announcement, highlighting its potential to boost the province’s tourism economy. ” Sports tourists shall not only come for the match but will also explore the wildlife, scenic beauty and heritage landscapes of Mpumalanga,” he noted.
“The sports tourists are encouraged to stay longer while exploring the wildlife in the provincial and national nature reserves, visit the heritage sites such as Sudwala Caves and Barberton Makhonjwa Mountain as well as explore Panorama Route (Mac-Mac pools, The Gorge Lift and Drie Rondavels). The final match of the Nedbank Cup is going to boost the economy of the province,” Villakazi added.
“The people of Mpumalanga are very welcoming and the food served is very delicious such that the sports tourists will have a beautiful and safe stay in the Province of the rising sun.”
