Middelburg – The District Development Model (DDM) council convened for its second-quarter meeting to discuss governance and oversight within Nkangala District Municipality.
The meeting took place on, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Nkangala District Municipality.
Tasked with driving the implementation of the DDM, the Council focuses on strategic direction, aligning development plans, and monitoring progress to achieve district-specific objectives.
The meeting brought together leaders from all six constituent municipalities of Nkangala District.
In addition, representatives from departments such as Cooperative Governance, Roads and Transport, Health, and Human Settlements joined the discussions alongside key officials from non-governmental organizations and the business sector.
The report confirmed that the Middelburg District Hospital, part of the project, is 97% complete, with the finalization set for the end of November 2024.
Discussions are underway between the Department of Health and the Steve Tshwete Municipality to address access infrastructure for the new hospital.
The DDM Council continues to play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and driving development across the district, ensuring the delivery of impactful and coordinated projects for local communities.
