DELMAS – PJ Stars Football Development Club were crowned champions at the Mpumalanga Juniors Championship Football Festival held at Gomasakho Ground on Sunday, 7 July 2024. Exceptional teamwork and determination, coupled with talent and skill, paid off as PJ Stars emerged victorious at the festival.

The club’s Under 13 team clinched the championship title after a tense penalty shootout, winning 6-5 against Elevated following a goalless draw in regular time. Meanwhile, the Under 15 team also excelled, defeating iWrong iRight Football Development by a 3-1 margin.

The players showcased their technical ability and strategic prowess on the field, impressing both spectators and rivals. Their victory was a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the guidance of their coaching staff.

PJ Stars Football Development chairman and coach, Blessing Panash Ngavi (21), told the Highveld Chronicle that the victory meant a great deal to the team. “This is the one tournament we had never won before. Winning two brand new soccer kits as prizes is particularly exciting, as it will help us look sharp and confident when we represent our region at the upcoming provincials,” he said.

In recognition of their outstanding achievement, PJ Stars received a brand new soccer kit for each division, courtesy of Skhanda Plant Hire Services. The colourful jerseys and sleek shorts will not only boost the team’s morale and confidence but also serve as symbols of their success and unity as a club.

Winning the championship is a significant milestone for PJ Stars, highlighting their potential and talent in the sport. “The club has proven that we can compete at a high level and achieve success on the field. With this recent triumph, we have laid a strong foundation for future growth and success, inspiring young players and fans alike with our passion for the game,” Ngavi added. “I believe our dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship have earned us respect within the local football community.”
