EMALAHLENI – The SipheKgaoNadi Foundation, a newly established non-profit organisation, hosted its inaugural Next-Generation Empowered event on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) eMalahleni campus.
The event brought together professionals of all ages to engage in meaningful conversations about navigating the complexities of modern life, including work, social connections, and mental health.
The day-long gathering featured a panel discussion centred on the following four key topics: balancing marriage and career, financial literacy, the adaptation between new and experienced professionals, as well as mental health and wellness.
The diverse panel of speakers included respected professionals such as Tumi Dikgole and Nompumelelo Matsane from Dikgole Matsane Attorneys Inc., social workers Nonhlanhla Ndaba and Elise Mahlangu, CEO of the Nkangala Business Chamber Anel Pieterse, and Pastor Shiba.
Each expert provided unique perspectives and practical advice tailored to the challenges faced by attendees.
In his opening remarks, SipheKgaoNadi co-founder Siphesonke Ngema said their mission is to empower individuals across all generations by providing tools and strategies to balance personal and professional growth. “This event is the first step in fostering a culture of support and understanding,” he said.
Pastor Shiba spoke candidly about the importance of communication and mutual understanding between partners.
They shared strategies for managing the pressures of professional life while maintaining strong personal relationships.
Nkangala Business Chamber CEO, Anel Pieterse, emphasised the need for financial education across all age groups. “Understanding how to manage your finances is a critical skill that can prevent stress and improve overall well-being,” she said.
“Mental health is just as important as physical health, and no one should navigate their struggles alone. Do activities that make you happy. There is nothing wrong with going to therapy,” said social worker Nonhlanhla Ndaba.
