MBOMBELA – Log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy shared the spoils, 1 – 1, in a thrilling encounter played at Mbombela stadium on Tuesday evening, May 21,2024.
The game saw the Mpumalanga outfit take on the reigning champions from Pretoria in a high-stakes battle for the fourth spot in the PSL league table.
Intense moments and jaw-dropping goals, characterised the game which kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender, Push Dithejane, made his mark in the game when he netted in the 78th minute to make the score 1 nil (1 – 0).
TS Galaxy’s plans to get a second which would secure them victory to a higher spot in the league, could not materialise as Sundowns solid defence stood firm.
Sharpshooter, Peter Shalulile, leveled matters (1 – 1) with just 5 minutes remaining.
He rose to power home a beautiful header off Aubrey Modiba cross to denying TS Galaxy, hosts, the maximum 3 points.
Shortly after the final whistle, heated exchange of words ensued between the two coaches Rhulani Mokena and Sead Removic.
That resulted to tensions which led to police intervention to diffuse the situation.
The ugly scenes left fans shocked and raised questions about sportsmanship in the league.
As the dust settled, all eyes are on the PSL to take action following the unsavory incident at Mbombela Stadium.
Despite the chaos, Sundowns continue their unbeaten streak this season with their 7th consecutive league win, solidifying their dominance in the league.
TS Galaxy, on the other hand, remain in fourth place on the table, determined to bounce back from this setback.
