TWEEFONTEIN – A 21-year-old soccer player, Samukelo Kabini, has left South Africa’s TS Galaxy FC to join the Norwegian team Molde FK in Europe.
Kabini, who grew up in Tweefontein, KwaNdebele, in the Thembisile Hani Municipality, played as a defender for TS Galaxy in the Premier Soccer League during the 2024-2025 season.
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, it was announced that Kabini had signed with Molde for a fee of R15 million. This deal was confirmed by Tim Sukazi, the chairman of TS Galaxy.
Kabini had the chance to join the well-known South African team, Kaizer Chiefs, but opted to move to Europe instead.
During his time at TS Galaxy, Kabini played 19 league games and scored three goals, helping his team finish fourth in the league. He can play as a left-back and as a centre-back, and he has already completed his medical tests with Molde FK.
Kabini’s contract with Molde FK is expected to run until 2028.
Speaking about his new team, he said, “I am very happy to be here in Molde. It has been an exciting few days, and I am looking forward to getting started. I have heard a lot of good things about the club and seen how they perform both in Norway and in Europe. It seems like a great place to grow as a player.” Some TS Galaxy fans are upset about Kabini’s departure.
Vusi Mabena, one of the supporters from Kameelrivier, said, “We have seen his outstanding performance during his time with the team. His role as a defender boosted the team’s confidence. I worry about how the team will adjust without him,” he said.
Another fan, Khanyisukuthula Masilela from Tweefontein, shared his concerns, asking, “What are the future plans for the team? Will there be a replacement for Kabini, or are we going to rely on our current players to fill the gap?”
As Samukelo Kabini begins his journey with Molde FK, many fans will be watching closely to see how both he and TS Galaxy adjust to this change.
