EMALAHLENI – A young thespian and public speaker is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of performing arts.

Mivuyo Ncapayi, from eMalahleni, harbours a strong passion for acting and dreams of becoming an international star. At just 11 years old, she has already achieved remarkable success.

Her talent extends beyond acting—she is also an accomplished public speaker and aspires to study law, with the ultimate goal of becoming a judge.

Inspired by Hollywood legend Denzel Washington, she admires his unwavering Christian values and consistency in his beliefs. At the same time, she hopes to surpass the fame of actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter.

Since starting public speaking in Grade 2, Mivuyo has been dedicated to motivating other young children to pursue their passions and carve their own paths.

Her journey in competitive performing arts began at the Talent Africa National Round, held in September 19 to 29, 2024 at the Vereeniging Barnyard, followed by the Talent Africa Virtual Nationals from October 1 to 18, 2024. She made it to the Top 10 at Talent Africa, securing her spot at the Stars of the Universe competition on January 31, 2025.

Competing against participants from eight countries—including France, Greece, Estonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, the UK, and Spain—Mivuyo emerged as the Overall Junior Actor, claiming the prestigious Platinum Award.

Her exceptional performance at Stars of the Universe has now earned her a place at the Mediterranean International Arts Festival, which will take place in July 12 to 19, 2025. She will proudly represent South Africa in Spain and France, competing at an even higher level on the global stage.

Mivuyo’s achievements are nothing short of extraordinary. At the Stars of the Universe International Performing Arts Cup 2025, she won Gold in Acting Commercial and Silver in Acting Drama. Her talents extend to public speaking, where she secured multiple Gold awards in Eisteddfod Persuasive Public Speaking and Undramatised Poetry.

She was also honoured with the Certificate of Excellence – Overall Junior Actor at Stars of the Universe.

Reflecting on her journey, Mivuyo expressed her excitement about representing her country internationally.

“I feel happy and joyful that I will be representing South Africa in two different countries, Spain and France. I have always dreamt of being a global citizen and reaching the top, and I’m so happy that my dream has come true at such a young age,” she shared.

With her growing list of accomplishments and a bright future ahead, Mivuyo Ncapayi is undoubtedly a name to watch in the world of performing arts. As she prepares for the Mediterranean International Arts Festival, South Africa stands proudly behind her, cheering her on as she takes her talents to the world stage.
