KWAMHLANGA – DJ Sushy, whose real name is Simon Tshepo Malete (31), is an internationally acclaimed DJ, producer, entrepreneur, and musician from KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga. He is renowned for his soulful and melodic deep house sound, energetic live performances, and innovative blend of traditional African music with modern electronic elements.

Starting his music career in 2002, DJ Sushy has made significant strides in the industry. His collaborations with record labels include producing House Station 5 and Jukebox 5 with DJ Style and DJ Strouck (Trademark) for Super House in 2012, and Sunshine Evolution 1 with DJ Style, Trademark, and DJ Brave in 2013. His 2014 album Back to Pretoria and his 2018 album The Gqom Legacy have been pivotal in establishing his reputation.

In 2019, DJ Sushy released Asna Stress, featuring Bongani MP, which gained substantial airplay and received a music video. He also released successful singles like Yapharuma featuring Sisco Tee, Don’t Drink and Drive, and Sphinde Sdlale, all available on major digital platforms. Currently, DJ Sushy is focusing on promoting his new tracks, Sghubu Sabo Rato, Bulane Ditsela, and Shona Leh. These tracks showcase his continued innovation and commitment to pushing the boundaries of his genre. Beyond his local success, DJ Sushy has gained international recognition. He has previously been booked for performances in Botswana and Mozambique and is set to perform in Swaziland on 28 September and 26 October, highlighting his growing influence beyond South Africa.

In addition to his music career, DJ Sushy is a successful entrepreneur. He owns CH Records Pty Ltd, which focuses on artist management, construction, and supplying goods and services to government departments. He also runs the Thapelo Malete Foundation, an NPO dedicated to supporting talented youth and empowering women in the community.

DJ Sushy’s accolades include Best Performing Artist at the Moutse Moya Youth Awards in 2015 and nominations at the Mpumalanga Sunshine Awards and Mzansi Kwaito Music Awards. His hit song “Imnandi” has attracted a lot of attention with its viral dance challenge initiated by Moonchild. His music is available on major digital platforms like iTunes, Traxsource, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, Mp3lio, and Caller Tunes. CH Records has partnered with Electromode and Sheer Publishing for global music distribution and royalties. With his distinct sound and innovative approach, DJ Sushy continues to make waves both locally and internationally
