The municipality has this week embarked on planned maintenance works at the Witbank Water Treatment Works.
The repair works which started yesterday, 25 June, include cleaning the raw water feed pipeline, replacing the clarifier at number 1 bridge, and replacing five suction valves at reservoir point D.
This will further prolong the water outages in the city much to the frustrations of residents. “It’s very bad. We did not have water last weekend, and this week again,” remarked Styles Mahlangu, resident.
Municipal spin doctor, Lebo Mofokeng, told Highveld Chronicle the municipality will provide water tankers at areas and institutions providing essential services for emergency water supply
